Yes I'm one of those sad people that have an iPhone, currently I use a handful of photography related apps. Specifically:

  • BestCamera, Chase Jarvises iPhone app.
  • Photoshop Mobile, I don't think anything needs to be said about this app.
  • CameraBag, a fairly simple app that applies a single filter to images.

Those of you who've got iPhones, what photography related apps are you using?

check

Photoshop Mobile

& PhotoCalc <-- this is really bloody useful for calculating stuff like exposure levels, DOF, flash

compensations & it also gives location based sunset/sunrise times.

TiltShift generator can give quite a nice effect, depending on the photo subject.

(Disclaimer: I have only used the online version as I don't have an iPhone)

"Magic Hour". This is the best sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset app out there, and I've tried lots of them! Far better than "Sunrise" or "Photocalc". Photocalc is useful for other stuff, but Magic Hour is much better for nature and landscape shooters!

I wish Magic Hour had a better database of locations. – Michael McCarty Jan 7 at 16:11
For me that's true for all of these applications. Canadian cities are seriously under-represented. Magic Hour does allow you to use and save your current location based on the iPhone GPS coordinates or the iPod Touch WiFi router location. – Sean Phillips Jan 7 at 20:11

I don't have the iPhone, I have the iPod Touch, but largely the same thing...

Anyways, I have some of the DoF calculators, but the most used app for photography isn't specifically a photography one: Instapaper. With that, I can store useful documents and articles on techniques for easy reference at a later time regardless of network availability.

I've actually taken to using the dropbox and evernote apps to do this, I can either copy the files to dropbox or create notes / documents in evernote (this is where I keep my shooting ideas for an inspiration lul) from my desktop and it syncs to the phone. – dstrom Jan 9 at 2:20

Gorillacam from the Joby folks. Free, lots of features like a bubble level, self timer, rapid-fire, 3 shot bursts, grid overlay, time-lapse, and auto-save.

iCSC is an astronomy related app but it gives another way to look at the weather and cloud cover for the next 48 hours.

Nikon Learn & Explore is a nice reference with examples and articles.

A couple mentioned above including, PhotoCalc and Photoshop Mobile

My favourites list is (in no particular order):

  • PhotoCalc (depth of field calculation, sunrise/sunset, equivalent exposures)
  • Night Camera (great for low light photography)
  • Focalware (sunrise/sunset/angle calculator)
  • Photogene (great photo editor)
  • Fotomatic (image display/slideshows)
  • Best Camera (for its social media ability rather than as an editor)

I use wayyy too many haha. I've got about 3 pages full of photo apps, listing them all would probably be a bore.
