I'm setting up a new website using wordpress.

Any recommended themes that are good for photographers or otherwise any good plug-ins?

If you are working on a tight budget and intend to set up a photoblog-style site, I can highly recommend PhotoQ and it's associated theme IQ2. They are free and work very well for me at http://www.davewilsonphotography.com. The theme is widget-based and pretty straightforward to customise though a bit of experience with HTML and CSS would likely help.

I use

To get Fancy Gallery and Display Exif working together you have to make some changes.

The wordpress site has some suggestions, but I haven't tried any specifically so cannot recommend. I run a number of wordpress blogs though, and can recommend these plugins...

  • Akismet - comment spam catcher
  • Add to Any - Share/Bookmark/Email Button
  • All in One SEO Pack
  • flickrRSS
  • Google XML Sitemaps
  • My Page Order
  • NextGEN Gallery
  • Twitter Tools

Depending on what sort of site you plan to run (gallery, photoblog, wordy blog about photography), a combination of themes/plugins should be available to suit, but it's good to start with a set that gets you as close as possible to the end result before customising.

www.idesigneco.com has some awesome themes for under 50 bucks and will be launching one specifically for photographers in a few days. Check em out =)
