Right... I'm getting a P&S for convenience shooting.

Have it narrowed down to the two mentioned above...

On the face of it, the Lumix kicks the Canon's butt on all fronts except maybe the F2.0 Aperture (I honestly don't think this matters with a P&S) and the RAW Format option. However I've been told that the Canon is the "Pro-Photographers" choice in terms of configurability/settings

Anyone had any hands on experience with either of these ?

I always hear of Pros recommending the S90. If you get one let us know how it goes. – Jonathon Watney May 4 at 14:57
yeah this is "what I heard" also but I don't see why. Fair enough on the extra customization of settings, but I'd think that having a p&s to fall back on would be to simplify that stuff when you're out and about :-\ Will see if I can get some hands-on testing in one of the camera shops near me. – Eoin C May 4 at 17:41
I think the pros are recommending it because of the RAW option more than anything else. When push comes to shove, even when casually shooting, they're going to what the image control. :) – John Cavan May 5 at 19:21
went with the TZ10 - got it today... happy with it :) – Eoin C May 22 at 19:47

I can't comment on the Lumix but I have an S90, I posted my thoughts here.

In essence it's a decent camera, with some flaws, but it does allow you to adjust most settings and fits in most pockets.
